Junior Hospital doctors will be taking part in strike action lasting 96 hours from 7am Tuesday 11th April to 7am Saturday 15th April 2023. This will impact on services at all NHS hospitals nationally. GP services are open as usual on strike days. Please continue to attend your appointments, unless you are contacted and told otherwise.

  • NHS services across the North East & Yorkshire region are experiencing extremely high demand at the moment – this includes GP practices which are extremely busy
  • If you need advice for a minor/mild illness or injury, in the first instance, please either contact your local pharmacy for help or look at the self-care advice that’s available on-line from the NHS at www.nhs.uk
  • Please watch the following online video to help you choose the most appropriate service for your needs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS6FdL9ObFM
  • If you want to check your symptoms, there is an on-line symptom checker available at 111.nhs.uk, which will re-direct you to a health professional if you need to consult  someone
  • The 111 online service is effective and efficient and endorsed by your GP.  You will be dealt with more quickly using 111 online than by calling 111.  Go to www.111.nhs.uk
  • Please only call 999 if it is a medical emergency – when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk. A&E is there to deal with life-threatening and serious accidents and illnesses. This includes loss of consciousness, chest pain, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding, severe allergic reactions, severe burns or scalds and stroke. If you need help but it’s not an emergency, call NHS 111 or go online at 111.nhs.uk
